2000 s10 security, starts,then stops in 2 sec

please help! I have a 2000 s-10. i parked it for several months, and let the battery go dead. When i charged the battery, and tried to start it the security light stays on and it starts and runs for a second or two then stops, it dose the same thing almost every time. after about 20/30 tries it would start and stay running, then go back to the start, run 2 secs, shut off routine. i'v checked the fule system, the fuses and someone told me it was the security system. is there a way to bypass the security system or reset it. Thanks.

Sounds like the security system of the computer lost its ground. For these newer vehicles' computers they have to be grounded w/ in a couple of seconds after start up or it will think the car is stolen and shut off like you were saying. You can bypass this if you can find the ground wire but its kinda a pain cause you have to manually ground it yourself after each start up. Took the head tech of where I use to work took him a week to figure that out when he put an LT1 out of a caprice into his pick up. Hopefully this will cure your problem.
