2001 impala overheaing probelm

I have a 2001 impala that has been getting hot. This only happens with the a/c running while in traffic. Once out on the highway, with the a/c on...i have no problems. This has problem has worsened as the summer months get warmer. What is the problem??
thanks for the help!
Mike

You might ought to check your antifreeze. If the radiator is full of sludge, that is a contributing factor.

hmm....i am pretty sure it's a fan assembly, w/ both fans on it...u'd have to get w/ a parts supplier to get the needed parts...i'm not sure of what the price will be, but the install is NOT hard.

I've had cars before that would start to run hotter then normal as the coolant got old. As soon as I changed the coolant everything was back to normal.
