Ferrari F60! Ferrari F60! Ferrari F60!!!!!
OMG! Heres the final styling! It looks absolutely gorgeous and stunning! A far cry from the hideous picture Ferrari let go 2 weeks ago! This is the result, and I have to say it is my favorite Ferrari design EVER! Pininfarina did it yet again!

Wait a minute...
That body design has been around for a bit now, known as the Ferrari FX. It was supposed to be a concept exercise for Ferrari's next supercar, but I didn't know it would be the F60. It debuted at the Artedinamica: Ferrari and Maserati at the Contemporary Art Museum of Tokyo on April 26th and will make it's international automotive debut (industry standard debut) at the Paris Auto Show on September 26 this year. They also code named it the F140 (anyone care to illuminate on the reasons why?), but in any case this machine IS the successor to the F40 and F50, regardless of whether it will be called the F60 or FX. The original F60 designs looked far to much like mutilated F50s, but the FX really brings out the right shape of an Italian mid-engined exotic. Perhaps there is a bit of Lamborghini imagery in there, but nonetheless, the FX shocked me the first time I saw it some time ago, and still continues to do so. One query, what did Ferrari do with all the time and money wasted on the original prototype (with the pop-up round lights)? Or will there be both an F60 and an FX? |

Well, I jumped the gun. Yes it is the F140, not F60, but I prefer to call it that. Also, the black prototype BURNED TO THE GROUND during testing at fiorano. The other prototypes with "popup" lights did not actually have popups. The lights were just there in place of the odd trapezoidal lights on this finished design. The spoiler was not needed, and isnt on this prototype, but a small popup one may surface on the final car. It may be called Enzo, since it is coming out nearly 3 years before schedule. I love it

Ahh, that really clears up a lot. So it was just a clever case of prototype disguise, eh? Not bad, that original F50-like rear spoiler and the dummy lights really fooled me. I recently read about the original prototype having burned to a crisp,
and all I can say to that is, 'a Kodak moment' (I'm not saying that I would want a Ferrari to burn, but in many ways, I have always felt that Ferraris were harnessed forms of fire--perhaps because of the traditional red coloring, or maybe because they move like wildfires). Also, I have to applaud this car's designers for having incorporated (successfully for that matter) a Formula 1-esque nose end to emphasize their recent successes in the F1 arena. And check out the massive rear diffuser! I bet that thing is one of the reasons why there no deck spoiler. As for criticism, they could have moved the front wheels closer to the corners, but hell, that's not really all that important. Oh here's a thought... s p y d e r... Well, I have yet to see even an F50 with my own eyes; hopefully I will be lucky enough one of these days to see this majestic machine in real life. |
