Need Help with Automatic Tranny.

Hi, the car is a 86 Mazda Rx7. It has a 82 Chev 350 in it, with a 700-R4 Tranny. I took the Engine and Tranny out this winter, did some things to the engine, and put a B&M Shift Kit in the tranny. I thought everything went smooth... However, once installed. The transmission is not shifting gears. It used to work O.K. One thing I forgot to do (not actually sure if I had to. Mabye someone knows.), was to fill the torque converter with fluid. BTW, I filled the tranny with B&M Trick Shift Fluid. Anyways, anyone have any ideas, or steps I should take?.... I appriciate the help. . Thanks.

Chris without a Car.

Re: Need Help with Automatic Tranny.

Check the TV cable (no, not the television cable, the 'throttle valve' cable.) It hooks up to the throttle and provides the trans with throttle position info.
Also, I recall your trans has a modulator. If the vacuum line is not hooked up to intake manifold vacuum, the trans will think you are flooring it all the time and will hold it in low gear to maximum revs. The modulator also could be seized/damaged internally.

Thanks for the reply. I actually dont remember hooking up any kind of vacume line to the vacume modulator, I dont think I looked for it. . Anyways though, I'm gona have to go and check that out, thanks for the suggestion. .

Chris.

Oh yea, just wondering.. The dip stick for the trans says "Dextron II", What's the diff between Dextron II and Dextron III, is III for newer cars only?.
