Polishing kit suggestions

I have been using the Micro-Mesh finishing kit for some time now, and love the results that I have been able to get in the end.

After a recent move however I have found that I am missing three of the cloths. Which leaves a rather sizable hole in the system.

My question is this....

Should I get the Soft-Touch pads instead of another polishing kit?
The grits look to be the same, and I would expect the same results, but is there advantages to the whole kit versus the smaller pads?
The pads are about 1/3 the price of another polishing kit.

I do all my finish polishing with Scratch-X now, so I don't really need the polish in the kit.

Anybody on here used both, and can make a recommendation for one or the other?

Thanks in advance for the great advice Ia m sure to get from everyone here.

I have a full polishing kit, and I've now moved to using scatch X in stead of the whole micro mesh kit.

I still use the 3200 and 4000 grits. But then I just move on to Tamiya Compounds and then finish with scatch X.

what cloths are you missing?

Re: Polishing kit suggestions

I have used a polishing kit by Black Gold. Works great. I follow the wetsanding with 3M fine grit rubbing compound then Meguire's cleaner wax. Sometimes I do a glaze, but its totally not needed if you don't want to do it.

Model Car Garage sells a pack with just the clothes (3200-12000) for like $12. and you can just buy each grit individually ($3).

Whatever you do change out all your cloths at the same time, don't mix old ones and new ones...it'll mess up your polishing results.
