Heat won't stop

Hey,

The 98 Ranger I bought always has some heat coming in. A quick diagnosis is that the heater core door is left open. I have no idea if the AC works because it's always blowing hot air.

What can I do to check this out?

Is it true they need to take the dash out to see what the problem is?

I had an estimate at $1050.00 and it will continue to be hot in the truck if that's the case!

Please let me know if you know anything about this model/problem?

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Heat won't stop

i would think tere could be a vacuum leak in the hose goin to the heater control valve- or the heater control valve is damaged

Re: Heat won't stop

It might be the blend door motor(little white box should be under the glove box somewhere) they are bad for going out on fords also check all vacuum lines going into cab from under the hood lastly it could be a broken blend door itself(plastic0

Dan, It sure sounds like a broken blend door I have the same problem with my 97 and I am currently looking for a cost effective solution. Let me know if you find an inexpensive cure and I will do the same.
