86 B2000 not firing no Spark from Coil

Hi need help here for a 86 b2000 on Sunday as my wife was coming home her truck died and when I got to her i found that some rodent had chewed one of the spark plug wires and she could not get any spark to turn over the engin. I replaced the plug wires with a new set and thought that should do it.. Nope still no file .. Checked fuses none blown. Also checked the Fule pump it working fine too.

So I Changed out the Cap and Rotor and the coil. Still no fire .
the older Chiltons book I have has no wire info and I need to figer out when thigs have become disconnected as i figuring that if the rodent could eaten the plug wire it could have chewed on some others but so far I see none.

we tested the wires going to the cil and all seem fine too but I'n at a lost. One post was looking at was talking about takeing out the disributor and or the Igniters and seeing if its fires then. i changing the key ignition as it has cut out and seeing if any of the wires have been chewed on as wekll but need to figure out where to start.

If anyone can help me please email me at [email protected] or even call me at 866 333 7672 (message line) I like in the Sacramento Calif area.

Ok thanks sorry for the bad gramer and type-O's but I'm not an eglish major .

thanks you for your time and help.

If there is no spark but the engine is turning over fine i would look to your control module, im not at work atm but usually its on the distributor somewhere. There is also a chance that your timing belt broke ( more likely if it died while she was driving it ) take the cap off and see if the rotor is turning when the engine is being turned over. If it is then the belt is still ok , and look to the module.

Did that with the Roto it turns.. We tested the wies going to the coil and there is power but it looks like it could be on one side but not sure.
there is power going to the igniters but ther could be bad .

Was wondring if there is a relay that could be dead?

my next check is to get thre and look over the wiring under the dash but i don't think it it that but I just like to check it all the same.

I was down for 2 days with a flu so wasn't able to look at the truck for a bit.

Any ideas would be of help on where to look.

thanks

Ill be at work tommorrow and will check out the module location for you. I wouldnt mess with wireing under the dash unless you had a fire in there or someone reached up and pulled em all out on you. Things dont * normally * go wrong under there. Im still leaning to the module for you but i have been wrong before.....

Thanks I'll be out nd about tomarrow but will be able to check in net wise. I was wanting to look as I could smell ther day everything died something electical(that smell of ozone arcing) but that could have been from the under the hood as the plug wires that got chewed did some good arcs.

I still think something has shotted out or just not connected as it was. But a better idea of where everything is will help.

thanks

Module is located in the distr its a half moon shape with 4 pins on it , sells bout 125 canadian , if you feel like it that is where i would try first. Mice / Rats liked spark plug wires because of the special coating of them all other wires in there dont have that on it so they usually ignore them.

Hello it could also be your pick up in the distributer the module connects to it and fires the electronic ignition.
