Question Inline 5 vs the 5.3 or 4.8

I was flipping through this months trukin magazine and I noticed that the specs for the acceleration and quarter mile times are dead close between the two engines (silverado and colorado)

colorado(cc)--- acceleration 9.21 quater miles 16.93 at 82.80
silverado(ecsb)--- acceleration 8.55 quater miles 16.63 at 82.07

there is about a 55 hp difference between the two (285 vs 220) silverado up and 100 lb-ft torque also (325 vs 225) anyway my point is with mods can a colorado be quicker then a silverado the truck is lighter with good power to boot and how would they stack up if they were both were on tuned up??????

A halfback is most always "quicker" than a fullback - but that doesn't mean they matchup. The Colorado is going to be faster from 0 to 40 MPH because of gravity - and from 40 to 70 its all depending on the configuration. A Colorado won't pull a trailer like a Silverado will and can't carry as big a load in the cab or bed (as a matchup). But chances are its turning radius is considerably shorter and "quicker" in city handling and local traffic. Of course the last issue - is wheelbase and road smoothness - considerable differences there between the two. But for hotrod "quicker" type issues I'd believe a Colorado would be a fast rabbit with proper mods. All depends on if you want a halfback or a fullback in your backfield
