need help with my 86 celica gt

Hey all. I recently bought a 1986 Celica Gt. It had been in some kind of accidnet so it was relitavely cheap. Wiht only 120k miles i figured it would be a good deal. It ran really good for the longest time and then the other day it overheated and it hasnt quite ran correctly since.

What happend was I was at a stoplight at it just stalled and wouldnt start again. I was able to start it like 4 hours later however.

Im not sure exactly whats going on, it seems to be loosing power and there might be a radiator leak, however there is never any fluid on the ground beneath my car so im not sure exaclty what to make of it. If anyone has had a similar problem any help woud be awsome. I can get a diagnostic done for 79 dollars @ a shell station near my house, if thats too expensive give the name of a cheaper place.

Any other help or advice, please e-mail. [email protected], I dont check here often, thanks a lot.

If worst comes to worse I might sell it so if, but thats far down the line if its too much of a burden on me. Thanks again everyone!

-Chris

id say the water pump, see if the weep hole seal is still sealed you could have lost enough fluid slowy outta that and not got a puddle under the car. and it could be spraying out on a belt causing it to slip

Re: need help with my 86 celica gt

My brother's 92 laser was doing that. He got it diagnosed and it was the engine's computer. His car just kept shuting off and wouldn't restart for hours. Ebay sometimes has them. It should only be about $20 - $30. Installation is easy, even if you know nothing about cars. To save time, you might want to just get the problem diagnosed and if you need parts, look on eBay for them, find a mechanic to put it in for ya. Before you do anything, CHECK THE OIL. If you have any q's email me at [email protected].
