Re: question about spark plugs?

i wouldn't want to let them go that far... i'd say change them if your not boosted every 15-20K miles.

Re: question about spark plugs?

to get to the plugs on a 2.4L engine you need to first remove the 4 bolts that hold on the ID cover, take the cover off and the plugs are right underneath it.

Re: question about spark plugs?

Just be careful when tightening the new ones in that they don't cross-thread. Always start them by hand and never turn more than 1/16 turn after it gets tight. It's SO easy to strip the threads out of an aluminum head, then you're screwed! I had to pay $100 to have the #3 cylinder fixed on my old motor, now #4 is not going in all the way on the new motor. Runs fine, it will just miss a little at low RPMs 'til I get it fixed.

Re: question about spark plugs?

Make sure the engine is cold. A warm spark plug is slightly larger than a cold plug, so changing them with a warm motor will guarantee you problems.

Re: question about spark plugs?

When you put new ones in, make sure you put a dab of anti-seize on the threads. Makes next time nicer to get them out.
