1992 regal custom dashlights

if i dont pull the main light fuse under the hood my dashlights dont turn off all the time and my battery is toast after that any ideas?

run a in-line fuse with a switch. That way you dont have to pull the fuse constantly. but that sounds like a short witha ground or something.
