99 Grand Prix GTP Blower motor

I have a 99 Grand Prix GTP. I did not have the usual problems with the blower motor working on high only, mine just quit working. Tried replacing the blower motor (didn't work) I did have a weird thing happen I had disconnected the battery and when I hooked it back up the head lights came on so I started the car up and let it run for a minute and turned it off, pulled the key out of the ingition but the car was still running. After pulling a couple of fuses and diconnecting the battery and connecting it again everything seems to be working ok now. So do you think it would be the blower motor resistor or the Ignition switch and any ideas on what caused the car to run without the key in the ignition.

Re: Blower motor

I would say your blower motor problem is teh resistor, the running sans key could be a more serious problem. Do you have an aftermarket remote start/ alarm on it. IF so, I would say that is what caused the headlight flash and continue to run without the key problem

There are a lot of things on a GP that can be reset by disconnecting the battery. May have been a prolum the the PCM. Resetting it made it work again.

Had that happen on my 97 GT. 1-4 settings went quickly and only the highest worked. It was the blower motor resistor. Good luck doing it yourself. Its "do-able" but hopefully you're flexible enough. Its located behind the glove box right up against the engine compartment wall. I was able to do it by laying backwards in my passenger seat with my head on the floor.
good luck!
