Exclamation Electrical Problems

Fun Day. On my way to work this morning:

1.) Engine Light Came On (Did not yet check code, will tonight)
2.) Battery Light Came On
3.) ABS/Brake Light Came On
4.) Air Bag Light Came On
5.) Gauge Cluster went completely dead (Tach, Spedometer, etc.)

This did not happen all at once, but in series. I was going 75 and it did not affect driving/acceleration, etc. After about 30 seconds, everything went back to normal with the exception of the airbag light.

Is my puter melting? Any suggestions (I will update after i get code)

Angry Update - Electrical

OK,

Replaced the alternator...Some problems remain, others are new:

1.) Check Engine light still on - engine code is for glow plug sensor...
2.) Air Bag Light Still on
3.) NEW - Headlights do not work. Bright signal is stuck on and lights do not work (Blinkers work fine in headlight assembly)
4.) NEW - Was rollling the passanger window down and it started going up and down on it's own. Althought it works just fine now.

Any suggestions on what to check. Is this a dealer question or would I be better taking it to a regular mechanic.

Oh yeah, anyone wanna buy a jetta...

Re: Electrical Problems

Don't take it to a mechanic -things will just get worse.

Take it to VW -its probably something little...

Sounds like your comfort control module is bad. Normally when alot of things go bad in the inside of the car (windows, lights, radio ect.) its the comfort module thats bad.

But it also seems like your instrument cluster is faulty due to all those lights being on and then your cluster just dying. THe codes need to be read out to be sure, but instrument cluster is something you cant replace yourself because you need to program your keys to the new cluster and thats something only a dealer can do.
