Exclamation Engine Vibration HELP!

I own a 1992 Grand Am Vin 3 SOHC 2.3L Quad4. I've had this problem for about 6-7 months now and just cant figure it out...finally got some news that it could be my timing chain that is doing all this vibration. I have replaced mounts and removed the torque strut because GM says that it is no longer useful in any grand am. Anyone have some experience with this kind of a problem or know how to fix it???? PLEASE I NEED THE HELP.

Thanks

Re: Engine Vibration HELP!

I wish I could be of some better help but the best I can offer is to suggest that you get hold of a Chilton or haynes manual for your GA, it should give you a break down on how to change the parts. Either manual will have the info. and for about $15.00 to $20.00 it would at least let you know what is is going to take and then you can decide if you want to take it on yourself.

Good luck, I hope this helps.

I did replace the timing chain when I replaced the head and gasket on my 95. Be prepared, its a rather tedious job as there is not a whole lot of room on the passenger side of the car to get at things. You do have to take the motor mount off that side, and instead of the overhead tool that the manuals love to recommend to support the motor, I used a block of wood and a jack, that way I was able to move the motor around a little bit to make it easier to get at some of the timing cover bolts. Also make sure you get the right timing cover seal, there are several of them for each year depending on which motor setup you have. Good Luck.
