This is the 1st time this happened. What could be wrong? The engine runs great and everything is in order!

Get a code by turning the ignition key on and off 3 times leaving it on the 3rd time. It will blink a certain number of times, lets say 4, then it will pause and blink again, lets say 3 times. Your code then is 43. Or you can go to Autozone and they can get a code out of it for free. Probably something simple like a bad gas cap or maybe it needs a tune-up. Just a few ideas but if you get me either any type of code out of it I can tell you whats wrong. Hope this helps!!!

I believe that is a medium evap leak. Put your nose near the gas cap and sniff for gas fumes. If you smell fumes then just replace the cap, or if you don't smell fumes, take the gas cap off and look at the center of it. If the center looks orange and rusted then you need a new gas cap. I work at a Jeep dealership so I will double check the code when I get back there this afternoon. Hope this helps!!!

OK, it well we know it's a fuel vapor leak. Did you have the gas cap off while the engine was running for anything? That could set it off. Also, when it's running check the purge solenoid. If you keep your hand on that you should feel the solenoid jump so you know that's working. Usually the problem is that gas cap but unless you have a smoke machine handy, it will make things a bit more difficult to find the leak. If you need help, feel free to email me at [email protected]

Under the hood, look to see if any hoses are cracked or dry rotted near the charcoal box. I think it is on the right (looking from the front) near the firewall. That could cause the code too.
