keyless entry problem

I have a problem with 2000 suburban keyless entry system. It works normal in the evening or first thing in the morning, but does not respond during daylight or hot days. It is almost like the heat inside the vehicle does something to the unit then it no longer responds. I have a new battery in the remote, and it works if I reset the remote when i replaced the battery. has someone else had this problem? also if someone can tell me how to re-programme the Kobut1bt remotes.maybe this will work. please HELP this is frustrating!!

The remote sensor is one of those little black globes in the defrost grill, it is possible that the sunlight is screwing it up. The other one controls the automatic headlights.

I have 1 sensor on the dash, it is for the headlights. Do you know of any fix for this on the keyless entry system side? are both sensors under the globe? thanks

I am having the same problem with my 99. Heat is the issue. I posted in March and so far 105 people have read it but not responded. In any event, I am working on the problem. If/when I get it resolved (could be a month or two) I will let you know. I'd appreciate it if you do the same if you figure it out before then. I will be looking at the wiring diagram this weekend to see what is wired into the system that could cause the problem. I have noticed that even when the locks don't work, I still hear a faint clicking sound in the body control module (I am guessing) under the dash. But I think it might be a bad ground or connection that is affected by heat. We'll see.

I will let you know if I find out something, all the dealer told me was it could be the receiver, for $130 I could try replacing that. but I think there has to be something that the heat is affecting. keep me posted.

Hi, I agree that the heat may expand a faulty part or bad connection.
You do have a receiver under the dashboard cover, it talks to the body control module that does the locking/unlocking.
I would try a new receiver. The heat may be affecting it.

Guess What?? It started working perfectly fine again in the heat as well. I think it is a faulty wire somewhere. I think the heat causes something to expand and that is when it stops responding. but so far so good. will keep you posted. thanks
