What could cause coolant to leak out of radiator reservoir? And how can it be repaired?

The res itself might be broken or cracked somewhere. Look over it hard and see if you can pin point the crack.

If it is cranked, can sealant be used to seal the crack? Can it be repaired or does it need to be replaced? Thanks

If cracked you would be better off replacing it. If it is leaking out of the overflow and the bottle is not full you may want to have the coolant cap checked, it may have a bad seal or is not holding the correct pressure anymore.
