I need help! best way to boost B18C

Okay... i drive a B18C powered civic hatch... LSD transmission. AEM cams, fuel rail, and filter. Fuel pressure regulator, intake, custom exhaust. Now, what I wanna know is... whats the best way to boost it, without a like $3000 kit from Greddy or something like that. Am I going to run into some shit like intercooler plumbing fitting problems or anything? Anyone know of a good, cheap boost set up?

I had also asked a dude who tuned a p72 Ecu for my car about what i would need to do if i boosted, and he said ide have to get a different ECU kuz it would fuck up kuz of the retard.... ?

What about those ebay kits? Anyone had any experience with those? I wouldnt get one.. but just wondering if anyone has, and what happened. Thanks!

you could build your own kit pretty cheap.. or you could buy one, stay away from ebay (IMO). and the person that said you need a new ecu.... if its already chipped, just re tune it... if its not, chip it.. it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a different ecu.

First of all the words boost and cheap should never go together. You dont want to just pick up cheap parts, half ass what you dont want to pay good money for. Spend the extra ammount of cash and go with a quality setup. You can do this two ways. You can either pick up the pieces yourself and piece it together, get someoone to bend your tubing for you. Or you can just pick up a GOOD kit (not greddy or e-bay). If I were you I would check out cybernation or rev hard.

And you are right, the retards are usually what fucks things up.

You have AEM cams, yet AEM doesn't make cams.

Interesting.

Re: I need help! best way to boost B18C

Wait you guys mean cams and cam gears arent the same thing?

My conclusion is this guy should not turbo his car. Not because he aparently has no clue what is even in his engine, but because the imaginary aem cams are probably waaaay too aggressive for a turbo setup.

You could always run a huge shot of nitrous, im thinking 250 shot dry, if you run one that big make sure to lean out the fuel and advance the timing.

God you wovles are pissy today!
he missed the word gears give him a break.

now honestly you didnt specify it it was an ITR motor or a GSR b18c.

You should go to obd1 cause its better its that simple as a start. easier to tune by a ton.

Now whats your budget and goals you left us pretty open ended man.

alright ace: 1996 B18C JDM Integra Type R motor
Already did the OBD1 conversion, running a chipped ECU. I had the ECU stuff done for me kuz im clueless about the ECU stuff. I heard a lot of people do hondata when they get turbo.. but that shit is expen$ive. Also, I have a 255 lph walbro fuel pump on switch... do I need to beef up the injectors if I set up a turbo?

my budget... around $1500 in parts. Me and my buddy can put the kit together.. but I want to know what are recommended in terms of parts. What size turbo, brands, what psi to run, stuff like that. Thankz again for your help.

Re: I need help! best way to boost B18C

upgrade your injectors wouldnt be a bad idea, have you strengthend your bottom end at all? if not i wouldnt go much above 8-10 psi depending on the kit.

Re: I need help! best way to boost B18C

ah ok so it's an ITR motor/ first off what are your goals power wise? 5-6 psi be fine stock anything more pistons are a good idea.

god knows what your ECU is doing is there a way to find out? I use Chrome for my tuning much nicer then uberdata and cheaper then hondata.
