Australian Govt. ban over 3000 vehicles for young drivers

I shit you not.

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/...tions_dl1.html

Some are just plain dumb.

They've banned a 1.8lt dihatsu because it has a turbo?

That just doesn't make sense?

Thoughts?

As long as the program works and saves lives, I'm all for it.

Re: Australian Govt. ban over 3000 vehicles for young drivers

makes sence to politicians

so by a non-turbo car and boost it

IMO...would make more sence to put govenors on the vehicles of youth drivers...but they'd find away to get around it...so let's not let them drive till 21

I could have had my full license last September. At the moment, I am not eligible until about April or May next year. Fuckers.

Re: Australian Govt. ban over 3000 vehicles for young drivers

Not a bad idea, the inexperienced driver is the most dangerous. Add that to a powerful automobile and you have a recipe for accidents.

I'm not saying that all new drivers are poor drivers mind you, but that the government is probably going with statistics and enacted a law to try to help reduce accidents. If it doesn't work they should change it back (but we all know that's not likely.)

I didn't see any motorcycles on the restricted list, are there any restrictions on P licenses riding motorcycles in Australia??

Re: Australian Govt. ban over 3000 vehicles for young drivers

Actually, not entirely true. I think they have to stay under 250cc and there is an allowed list of bikes too, but you can bet that the majority of allowed bikes are faster with less safety features than the majority of cars on the banned list.

Fuckwits in power? Yes-siree-bob. I didn't vote for the fuckwits, never have and never will.

That's why I'm not complaining that much.

Re: Australian Govt. ban over 3000 vehicles for young drivers

I know it's outragous, but because the Enzo isn't on the list would be enough reason to be able to drive it. Although the chances of a new young driver getting their hands on one are generally no better than one in 18 million, although I have a few people (who don't know eachother from what I know) tell me some rich fuck 18 year old has a gallardo (lambo).

Is this the list that outlaws the Smart and Xantia Activa but not the M3 and any Hondas?
