new clutch...now won't start

i got a red BMW 325 E30...1987 for $500...the clutch was slipping really bad but i had nothing else to drive until i found me another junker...i finally after a year put a new clutch in it with a backyard mechanic...i would go out usually once a week and start it...but after he put the new clutch in it won't start...its getting gas and the fuel pump does cut on because you can hear it...i'm pretty sure it's getting spark...but besides that what could have happen in a span of 2 days with a new clutch it that would make it not start?
