Evo hood question

i, as a non evo owner and not being able to see ones up close at will, i have a question about the hood of the evo. its about the scoop/vent on the hood. is it just a straight through vent, or is there something on the under side of the hood to prevent the engine from rain and such? if so, is there some sort of drainage system so that the water has somewhere to go?

Re: Evo hood question

Even if the water goes straight through, it probably wasn't a problem for Mitsubishi engineers to position the opening so that water wouldn't fall on on parts that couldn't handle it.

You could ask the same question about almost any other car with a hood scoop or vent of some sort.

Re: Evo hood question

Cars that come equipped from the factory with such vents and opening should be able to handle rain without problem, since they are made to spec. Aftermarket stuff, such as my invader hood, is different...the vent sits right over the fans, which isnt the best thing ni the rain.

Re: Evo hood question

it is there for venting purposes seeing as how the engine reaches retarded temps. because of the Turbo. I have an 03 and have no problems with the rain making it dirty or anything like that......
