420a - 4G63 Swap???
My '95 RS is the slowest piece of car i have ever owned. Originally bought for my wife, she recently got a new car and now i have a new toy. I want to swap a 4G63 into it. Any help on the issue is appreciated as to what all i will need to buy. Such as, will i need to buy new motor mounts, will the 4G63 mount to the stock tranny or will i need another tranny for the 4G63. I do not know much about the Eclipse motors so any advice will do. Also, are there any websites than go into depth on the install?

as far as ive heard it would be a total waste of your money. you would be far better off selling that rs and buying a gst or a gsx. none of the 420a lines up with the 4g63 and you will need a ton of extra parts and a hell of alot of time

Waste of time trying to swap the 4g63t into a n/t.

Ya, I know that link tells how to turbo the 420a. I just showed it to you, because directly swapping the 4g63t into the n/t would be a HELL of a job. Just sayin, prepare to spend a ton of money. And, with all that money, you prolly could have found a nice gst, or maybe even a gsx.

You won't swap, nobody ever goes through with it. There was a short list on 2gnt.com, and it's like $6000 wasted dollars on the idea.

Never going to happen. Cheaper to sell the rs and get a 2g turbo or turbo the nt. Turboing the nt will get close to a gst, and will cost less than the swap. Selling the rs for and buying a gst will cost you less than the swap and will most be faster. You could take that extra 4 grand you were gonna dump into the swap (if you sold your rs for 4 and bought a gst/x for 6) and, with some good research...you are a ways away but you have to start somewhere, get your gst into the 12's (not easy) or the gsx into the 11's (not easy but not really as hard...) But I say get a 90-92 e/t/l turbo, it will have a 6 bolt which owns.

Even if i were to buy a 4G63, tranny, motor mounts, and other misc stuff, how do you figure $6000? Maybe if a shop were to do it but with me doing it all i see is parts costs and a motor and tranny are nowhere close to $6K.

Just don't bother, if your set on a turbo dsm, sell your N/T and buy one.

Can someone explain to me the reason every person on the planet insists on wanting to do a motor swap????
If you didn't like the car in the first place, why did you buy it? All I ever seem to read about it freakin' motor swaps. Hey yall, can I put a motor from a dodge viper in my PT cruiser???

why is everyone always trying to knock someone for trying the 4g63 into the 420a spot...the man asked a ? just give him advise and not be an ass about it.if he wants to waste his $$ let him do so. but i read another dsm thread on here and a fella give his fellow dsmer a block that he needed all he had to do was go get it...see that a nice guy...but on this thread everyone is trying to knock this fella for asking bout the 420a-4g63 swap, just let him know the cost and let him decide..lets not be an ass bout it...im not trying to be a dick bout it ..but us slow non turboed cars are part of this forum too..we are dsmers also..just cause we don't have turbo doesn't mean we need to be pushed to the side..

I do agree. Whenever someone comes in with this question, people jump down his/her throat. I garuntee you have no idea what his wallet looks like, and if he has the money to do it, then let him decide if he wants to do it or not. AF is supposed to be a friendly place where the less experienced can come and ask questions from the more experienced. I know you mean good by telling him not to make a dumb move, but maybe he cant find any GST's or GSX's in his area. Maybe he already has work done to the car, and selling it would be outright dumb. Its his car, hes just asking for your knowledge. Your not his father =-).
