2.0 swap

I have a 93 1.9 trans goimg bad can i go a head and swap motor and trans with a 2.0 spi motor and trans with little to no problems or do i have to put a 1.9 trans in it.

I don't think so.DON'T quote me on this.There is no interchange in transmissions from 96..the last year of the 1.9..to ANYTHING after.I am pretty sure that the 2.0 will bolt up to the 1.9 trans.But I think that you either need the 1.9 trans..or have to make changes to the 2.0 to stick it in.Could be just the mount or the halfshafts?..or something(others) else.

Yes, you can install a 3rd gen (2.0) 5 speed tranny in a 91-96 lx chassis, it has been done. You will need drive shafts and mouting brakets, but I belive it bolts into the 91-96 engine bay mounts just fine. You might also need the shift linkages, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

Dunh..sorry 'bout that! My brain was in the AUTOmatic mode.I wasn't thinking 'bout a stick.Does the changing the half shafts,mounts apply to the auto too?(allowing you to drop in a 2.0 AND the auto trans)
