Electric fan not comming on. (sr20det swap)

ive had the car running long enough to get up to running temperature.... but not more than 15 minutes at a time.... never has the electric fan came on. is there any wiring i need to do because of the different harness? or is it plug and play?

Mine never came on either. when I first got it running on a independent temp switch / relay I drove it around for 3-4 days before it went off when I was sitting in traffic.

that was on a stock KA radiator... Now I have a Koyo... I want to go back to the mechanical because I dont care about 2% HP and I think it cleans up the engine bay

Re: Electric fan not comming on. (sr20det swap)

just connect youre fans direct so everytime youre car is on the fans will always be on and you wont have a problem with them not comming on.

Wire your fan to a toffle switch in your interior. Its very easy but dont forget to turn them on im traffic

Eh. lots of people with electrics on SRs have overheating issues. Plus I like the way the Mechanical Fan looks in there... theres no big gap in the engine bay.

Re: Electric fan not comming on. (sr20det swap)

Hmmmmm:

Mechanical fan: Free becuase it came with the car. Plus it works great.

FAL fan(s): roughly $200 the last time I checked in Summit.

I wonder....

Re: Electric fan not comming on. (sr20det swap)

It costs more, but obviously worsk better, it's like saying "stock 15" rims look ok and are free, or go buy 16x9 +10 TE-37s".

Re: Electric fan not comming on. (sr20det swap)

Look my friends, I checked out my cooling system on a Techtom. Water temps stayed @180*-178* on a 90* summer day in Fl as I idled for 20 min in construction. So once again, this upgrade is purely cosmetic.

Hey kids, wanna upgrade your cooling system? Here's an idea. Save that ~$200 for a FAL fan, put +$150 with it, and buy a Koyo radiator. The stock KA radiator is the weak point in its cooling system.

With all of your input thus far, I have done 234,569 things wrong but my car still runs very well and boosts fine everyday. I should not be modifying cars.....

Re: Electric fan not comming on. (sr20det swap)

Wow $200 for a FAL. Thats crazy autozone has 14" electric fans for $89 and they seem to be pretty good to me. I have a 14" on my current and I had 2 12"'s on my Z. Never have I had a car overheat with electric fans running!!!

2 1/2 year old thread man but yeah i think everyone agrees that electric are better than the mechanical, just that its $200 for a luxury if ur not running at high temps.
