Hi,
I have a 323F (or Astina I think it's called in some countries) MY-91 where the rear left wheel bearing needs to be replaced. I wonder, is it possible to remove the bearings from the hub and if so, does any of you guys know the dimension of the bearings? I figured I cold save some money by just having to buy the bearings instead of a $200 hub from the mazda dealer. Thanks for any answers Jacke |

I've swapped a couple of CV joints on my 89 323 and if yours is
similar, which it should be almost identical, the bearing in the hub can be replaced --- BUT --- it's a dual-race bearing that has to be pressed in AND properly gapped. Get the right part from a parts store and get a reliable shop to press the bearing in and adjust it for you, then just reassemble. If you haven't done the brakes, rotors, etc. and have much mileage I would also recommend that you do them while you are there. The rotor can only be turned if the hub is disassembled and you don't want to go through the whole process again in a few months. Although, I just swapped the pads on mine for the first time ever and the thing's got 150K on it. |
