94 Rodeo Auto Trans

Hi, I have a 94 Rodeo, v6 3.2l v6 4X4 (195k mile)--- the trans slips once the engine gets warm (but runs ok cold) --- I changed the fluid (no effect) --- any suggestrions?

The trans shop says '...time for a new one' --- but they can't locate a rebuilt unit. The closest thing I can find are several salvaged ones --- for $700, in Sacramento, CA --- 10 miles away. Any suggestions?

My question:

1) does the symptom (at hot) suggest, possibly some oil cooler problem, if so, how to diagnose?

2) is there any general way for a driver to self idagnose worn cluth packs?

3) can you suggest a source for a good rebuilt unit (and cost).

Thanks

Check this one out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Phoenix is a pretty reputable rebuilder.

94 Trans problems

Hey Dave,
I also have a high mileage (211,200) '94 Rodeo with transmission problems. Trans would slip from 1 > 2 gear. Turns out my cooling fan clutch was not working correctly and not pulling enough air through the radiator that also cools the trans fluid. Got a used one from AHI in Rancho Cordova for $35 and everything is better. I also added some Lucas Transmission Fix. Feels like a new truck with buttery soft shifts!

Good luck!
