'92 dynasty...overheating...OVERHEATING

'92 dodge dynasty overheating. All hoses are good and clamps are tight. Put in new thermostat. (thermostat housing good) Replaced radiator cap. Fan fuses and relays functioning.....fan kicks in wonderfully. No leaks anywhere and coolant is to proper levels. Head gasket is fine.......no antifreeze leaking into oil. Flushed out system completely. Coded the car and it showed no problems with any of the sensors. What else is there left to try? Please, someone out there.......have the next step for me. This whole problem is starting to make me mean!

Is it blowing steam out at you? When you had all this stuff done, did you bleed out your cooling system? If you have air pockets in your fluid, it can cause an overheat condition to be read on your instrument cluster.

do you think it might be your radiator?, we jus thad a car in our shop today with the same exact problem you having everything was reading good everything hose wise fluids wise and air pockets wise was good and it ended up being a crap radiator and bam it fixed it instantly.... lemm eknow if ya find out...~mr.Avenger~

Thank you for replying.......the only time that it blows out any steam is when radiator cap is taken off before it cools down properly. I have bled the system and "burped" it many times now. The *&$($&@&**( temperature gauge just keeps climbing and climbing.

Thank you for replying....I'm hoping that it is not the radiator. I know that it does not leak anywhere. I also know that it is as clean as a whistle. (I got frustrated to the max and dumped about 1/2 cup of muriatic acid into the water filled radiator, let it set for about 20 minutes, then flushed it again. The water came out pretty black. Then I dumped another 1/2 cup of acid into the water filled radiator and repeated the whole process......this time when I drained it, it came out crystal clear.) I know that the water is circulating properly. And I seem to be getting meaner by the hour 'cause I can't figure it out! Is there a sure-fire way of finding out if you have a bad radiator before you actually purchase and install a new one?

Try this, turn on your heat next time; if you smell antifreeze, your problem is a busted heater core. Make sure as well that you don't have antifreeze on your carpet.

I must be running out of options......have tried the heat. It brings the temp gauge down for about a minute, then it shoots right back up again. No smell, and no damp carpets inside the car. (I've had heater cores go before, and there is no mistaking that smell, or dampness in the car.) I'm positive that my heater core is fine. Is it possible that I do have a thermo sensor that is shot and coding the car is just overlooking it?

I would look at that head gasket again, i've seen so many gaskets pushing air into the cooling system but not blown enough to allow coolent to leak back into engine. Happened to a omni my ex had.

well, if I understand you correctly, forgive me if I sound retarded, but if you don't have any visible signs of coolant loss, I'd guess at a bad temperature sending unit. But that is assuming that everything is OK, no problems.
