Dont think there were any fuses for this to check out, but not sure right now.
Do you also have an "air bag problem" message on your DIC? if so, then I think problem is in clockspring aka SRS coil in steering wheel and it needs replacing. Part number of it is 26087271. GMPartsDirect.com sells it for 85.36. Have this problem, started with failing of a steering wheel buttons. About week later an air bag problem message started to show up. Think wires in coil failed just one after one, not all together. Myself determined the problem with removing an air bag on the wheel and knee bolster to get to the coil connectors, then just connected ohmmeter to contacts. There were no circling so im looking for place where to order new unit. |

You took off airbag cover or airbag itself? You need to remove airbag itself from steering wheel.
First off, there are some basic precautions in working with airbag systems 1 disconnect battery ground 2 remove airbag fuse 3 disconnect yellow-labeled SIR connectors at base of steering column and another one behind passenger’s knee bolster on right wall (they have green clips to ensure connector retention) There’s one covered screw per side on wheel to hold airbag in place. If you remove it, there are one steel connector to st.wheel to snap out, one plastic tube with spring (to push in and turn to the left to open) and at last two connectors from coil spring you can see on this picture http://www.hot.ee/eurora/temporary/c...tors%20stwheel . Those two are what you need. Now, behind the knee bolster (fixed with 3-4 screws) find similar connectors. Test a presence of connection between lower and upper connections. |
