Gas Tank size

Can anyone tell me how big the gas tank is on an '02 LS? I've looked everywhere and can't find the info.

02-early 03s have a ~18.7 gallon tank. Most 03 and all 04+ have 22gallon in the short wheelbase and the EXT/Envoy XL have a 25gallon tank.

Hope this answers your question!

P.S. My 02 tank is around 18.7, but I have never run the gas all of the way out to test it, but that is what I have read and seen in the Chevy brochures at the dealership!

Really? I thought after gm used all of the 18.x gallon tanks in the 03s that the rest of them were all 22 gallon. I believe you, and thanks for the info.

Still wish I could find a 22gal tank at the junkyard and retrofit my 02. Would be really nice on long trips.

I think the fuel tanks should probably fit in the same area, but they might mount differently or something else that would make it difficult to do. Also, I was thinking about how would the DIC need to be modified to recognize the added range? I wish I knew how involved or not it would be to do it, but unfortunately, I dont.
