I took my car to get it emissions tested and it failed. A friend of mine had changed the transmission fluid and filter....it had the reverse slam going on....and he insisted it would pass. I failed the carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons section. So I went to autozone and the guy gives me all this tune up stuff like fuel filters, spark plugs and some other stuff. So including the price of emissions I've already put out around $130.00 on the car. It's a '92 Saturn SL2 and has 119,000 miles on it. And it over heats. I thought the leak was fixed, but it keeps coming back. So I don't know if I should sell it, or fix it or what. What do you guys think?

Re: failed emissions
the reverse slam should have nothing to do with emissions. what leak are you talking about? can you post all of the numbers? has the ECT ever been replaced? any other useful info?
