Question what size wheels will fit on my Nova?

Hi, does anyone know if 15x8 wheels will fit the front and rear of my 1970 Nova without any rubbing? Thank you!

On the front, Yes but I don't see a reason for having a 8 inch wide rim on the front, unless you just want it.

On the back, Yes, but you will need a 15x8 inch rim with 5 inches of backspacing. If you have an 8 inch wide rim with less, the tire will rub on the fender. If more, the tire will rub on the shock.

I run 15x8 inch Cragar rims on the rear of my Nova, with 5 inches of backspacing. I can fit a 26x10.5x15 drag slick on the car with zero rubbing, on a stock width rear end.

Rob

I have 15x8 in the front + rear same back spacing. 5". You can have 225/60/15 looks like stock car with wide meat all around.

Re: what size wheels will fit on my Nova?

Hello again, thanx for the info Rob! I have one more question. I found out that the wheels I want have 4 1/2 inches of backspacing. Do you think they will be ok, or should I just get 15x7's?

They would probably work with 4 1/2 inch backspacing, but you may have either grind off, or roll up that inner lip on the inside of the rear fender.

It would work if you did that, but I doubt it would work as a 15x8 4 1/2 BS. It would be VERRRRRRY close, but I'm leaning towards no.

I have been known to cut half the fender off a truck to get bigger mud tires to fit, but I WOULD NOT recommend cutting on the Nova.

Lightbulb wheel fitment

I have a 70 with 15x10's on the rear that have 6.5 inches backspace. I am running a 28x13.5 m/t e.t. street tire and it works great!! I also have lowered the car 2" in the rear.
