1974 Firebird

I want to know how much my 1974 Firebird is worth, and if its worth more the way it came out of the factory, or with an upgraded motor, spoiler, and shaker hood?

Right now she has a 350, no spoiler or shaker hood.

Now I bought the spoiler and shaker hood, so its not that hard to put them on. I have a Olds 250 Desil that I can convert to gas, and get about 350 horsepower out of, but what do you think would bring in more money?

Re: 1974 Firebird

It all depends on the buyer, personally i would pay twice as much for an original car than i would a car that has been modded. To find out how much your car is worth i suggest kelley's blue book...you can find them on the internet at www.kbb.com

another good site for finding the value of a car is www.nadaguides.com

Re: 1974 Firebird

Collector value usually relates to "collectable" cars. A "plain Jane" Firebird is not much of a collector. Changing it to LOOK like a T/A MAY bring a few more bucks. DO NOT market it as a Trans Am. Legal battle to follow...
Forget converting the Olds diesel to gas. Too much work, not enough results. The 350 Pontiac is every bit the power engine a 350 Olds is, and needs no "conversion".
On that same note, a 400 or 455 Pontiac will bolt right in (if following a few model-specific rules). More power than an Olds is capable of at the same level of tune, parts more plentiful and less money, and it keeps your Pontiac a PONTIAC!
