obd 1 and 2 and tt and singe t?
I was lookign around at supras and found some good deals on them how ever i was denatly looking at the turbo verion. Fist I was wondering when the supra whent form obd 1 to obd 2 (what years) and which is bhetter to mod. Also Do they make a single turbo supra or is all supras wit the title tubo twin turbo?? Becuse in most cars you can get more boost out of one turbo raither than 2... am i correct?? aso if they do make a singe tubo or twin whiche is better to mod??

they only make MKIV with twin turbos but many people decide to take out the twin turbo setup and just put in one big turbo. yes u would get more boost out of one i think but they used two so that one could work during low rpms and then the other for higher rpms reducing the wear and tear and also making it easier and smoother during shifting i believe

Meaning all 6 cyclinders pushed one turbo, then it switched to true twin turbo, where both turbo's were engauged 3 cyclinders each. This allow a partial boost build at lower rpm, and then higher boost as the rpms build up. This is a good system at stock boost levels but caused higher wear, not less wear. Because the engine is already at rpm when it switches to true twin mode, the second turbo does not have a chance to spool up, it is just slammed to speed. This causes a failure of the number 2 turbo over time. (the legendary death whine). This wear increases as you increase the boost. (Have a look at www.MKIV.com for more detailed information on death whine, TT conversions, and the Moddifcation paths.) Yes you can run more boost from a single over the factory twins, and suffer little in in terms of spool up if you run the right size, and A/R turbine housing. If you plan on running pump gas most of the time, you are not going to be able to run much more than 16-17psi. For this type of use a .61-.67 single turbo is a good streetable option, a turbo of this size is good for about 450-500hp on 93 octane pump fuel @17psi, and 700-750hp @28psi on race fuel.
