850 Keyless Remote Issues

I purchased my 1995 850 T two years ago and it came with one key and remote. Well, after locking and unlocking the car with the remote, the car would not start. The lights on the dash board light up, but when the key was turned to III, nothing happened. Since I have stopped using the remote, I haven't had any issues with starting the car. I have a feeling it's some kind of flaw in the security system. Is there anything I can so to get my remote to work properly again so I don't get standed with a car that won't start? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
