Re: no compression

Is the crankshaft balanced?, where the bearings placed in hot oil before install?, Are the rod connectors overtighted? That's just a few questions i would ask of the top of my head. Replacing rod bearings is much more complicated then most people think, there is more to it then remove and replace. Many mechanics wont even attempt this kind of procedure, but rather replace the longblock.

What kind of shape are the rings in? That and the fact that if the timing wasnt right, he could have bent valves...were the rockers laying in the head after you tried to start it?

Re: no compression

If he replaced the starter after ruining your compression, it really is time for a new boyfriend--or at least one who doesn't try to be a mechanic.

Did he reuse the headgasket or replace it with a new one? Is the car blowing any smoke?
