90' Sahara bad Brake Pull

I have a 90's Jeep Sahara, and it has no rear drum brakes because the previous owner removed them. My front disc brakes 50% of the time pull to the left, mostly after I have drove it a bit. Sometimes it veers all over the lane and I can hardly keep it in the lane when the brakes are applied and let off.

I'm thinking either a caliper or a ball joint. If it is, I'm assuming its the right caliper not grabbing. I'll try to bleed the brakes but I've never done that. I don't want to buy all the stuff and have it be another thing. Any suggestions? What should I troubleshoot first?

Get that fixed before you drive it. Its the hack jobs that can kill you. I would install new pads, calipers. Bleed em, and find some rear brakes. You might as well convert it to disc, but compare the price/

If you do end up replacing the caliper you might go ahead and replace the brake line also. Sometimes the inside of the line begins to break down and when brakes are applied it can cause more brake fluid to be diverted to the caliper with a clear brake line. This can cause that side to grab more causing a pull to that side. Just a thought.

Re: 90' Sahara bad Brake Pull

Is there another set of brakes installed on the rear or are there no brakes at all? If no brakes, then you may have a brake fluid proportioning problem from having the lines closed off - in that case, most definitely install some rear brakes as a first priority!

To bleed the fronts, all you need to do is have a look at the calipers. You'll see a small bolt with a nipple (sort of) on the end. That's the bleed valve. Make sure you have the correct sized 6 point wrench as it may be tough to open and stripping it will cause a visit to the store. With someone holding pressure on the brake pedal, open the bleed valve. The pedal should go to the floor. They should hold it there while you close the valve. Once you've closed it, they should pump the brake pedal until it's firm again. Repeat until no air comes out of the valve.

Oh yeah...repeat on the other side. Make sure to check the master cylinder often, you don't want the level to get too low.
