Thanks

My understanding is that the ceramic pads dissipate heat better and faster than semi-metallic.

Yeah and more expensive.

Re: Whats the difference between Ceramic & Semi-Metallic brake pads?
From what I understand, ceramic pads are not great for street use, but more for track use with heavier breaking condidtions....

Re: Whats the difference between Ceramic & Semi-Metallic brake pads?
as i understand it
ceramic pads last longer and dont make as much dust i think the braking is the same except that they dont fade after they get hot. ceramic pads arre also noisey as hell most of the time. if you get them definately get new rotors at the same time ceramics also wear out the rotors faster

I agree with everyone, not that that helps much.
Neither are friendly to rotor life. Both make your car sound like a hooptie when you brake . Metal pads have a slight advantage in bite, ceramic pads dissipate heat better. High end track pads like Porterfields are ceramic. For your application, buy neither. Not even track-whores use their ceramic pads on the street. Well, maybe a few do, but anyway... try some kevlar blend stuff that's more streetable. Installing these with new rotors, as you are, is also a good idea.

I guess I'm a track whore, even though i've never been to the track....Or maybe I'm just a ricer..... I use ceramic pads I have to tell you that these are the best brakes I have ever owned. I don't know if it's the combination of the rotors/pad or if it's the pad themselves, but the braking is incrediable!!!! No fade, no shudder, excellent pedal response and I can stop on a dime. I don't know if I will ever go with another type of pad. I am using the Akebono Ceramic pads and don't have any problem with noise or dust. They are advertised as having "Ultra-quiet, positive and smooth braking performance." I agree with that statement. Anyway....I love these things, but as was said they are expensive. http://www.dsmparts.com/customer/pro...&cat=13&page=1
