EGR instructions, please
Me again. I need instructions for locating, removing, and cleaning my EGR. I have a 1989 S10 Blazer 4.3 "Z" motor in it. I don't believe it has ever been done before...there is a delay when accelerating. I looked for washing, and it looks to be allright...both sides clean.
Also, do you reccommend some type of cleaner to be put into the fuel to clean the injectors? |

Yes sir! I have replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, pcv valve...although the pcv valve doesn't seem to fit like the other one...seems a little "loose".

I would check your timing with the timing wire disconnected from the ECM. Also, what plugs did you use and what gap did you set them too? Ever replaced the fuel filter? The engine not getting sufficient fuel flow can cause a hesitation.

Re: EGR instructions, please
You might need to pick up a new grommet for the pcv valve. I did when i put mine in its only 2 bucks or so and will snug it back up.

I will be sure to get a new grommet for the PCV valve, thanks!
BlazerLT: Sorry, I forgot to mention that the fuel filter is new also...replaced that when I replaced the fuel lines. I have never done any timing work before, but I know quite a few people that work in a garage, so I will ask them. What do I need to know about the timing? Is there a special kind of light? Should I get a new belt/chain, or not worry about it? I just want this Blazer to run as close to new as I can. For the body, and the undercarriage rust...would it be allright to sandblast? If not the body, the undercarriage? I gotta be careful though, the rear pumpkin cover looks a little thin from rust...might go right through it! |

Re: EGR instructions, please
You will need a timing light and you will have to disconnect the brown timing wire from the ECM under the dash in oder to set the base timing properly.
What plugs did you use and what gap did you set them to?

Re: EGR instructions, please
The AC Delco plugs weren't available for my engine at the Autozone near my house. I still need to call another store. What is the difference between the two? And what is the correct gap for the 89 4.3 with ac platinums?
Edit: Autozone doesn't carry the AC Platinums for this year, nor can they be special ordered. Where else can I get them?
