Re: Need Your Help With My Paint Project
I have never heard of wet sanding the color before clearing. Yeah, it could be the humidity. What kind of clear are you using. I live in Florida and I have never ever had this problem. I just use canned clear if that means anything to you. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Need Your Help With My Paint Project
Did you leave the lacquer long enough to 'gas-out' before you applied the clear? That could cause it, you should ideally leave lacquers for upto two weeks before applying clear. What type of clear are you using? You DO get 'flat' clear which will make gloss 'flat'.

That's easy. From your description, you were shooting clear over primer.
The primer absorbed the clear on the first few coats, like a sponge. Primer is porous, paint is not. Once the clear had saturated the primer, it was like any other paint, non-porous and that's when it glossed up for you. In the future you don't need to sand the primer to clear it, you will build up enough clear during the sealing phase to make it smooth... - Mark |
