Not Starting Need Help!!
Ok, I have a 97 SOHC neon Auto. And I've been having some problems with starting it for like the past 3 months. They supposely fixed it at the dealership. Heres what they did """Ran diagnostics test and they came up with engine misfire, also valve cover gasket and spark plug seals leaking. Relpace Spark plugs, Valve cover gaskets, and spark plug tube seals."""But then a week later it wouldnt start so i took it back and said wtf why is it not running now and they look at it again and said o now its your fuel pump. So when i got the money i did the fixin my self b/c i dont have like 600 to pay the dealership. And then after i did that i was able to drive it around like 2 days. (Durring the time the check engine light came one and i had to checked at autozone and it came up as an EGR malfunction and the dude said that i should fixed it) So once again i had to waite till i get some cash and then i went down to NAPA auto parts (b/c i heard from some friends that i knew they said autozone is crap and cheap) and bought a new EGR Valve. Now i can drive it around again 2 days and it died again. So can anyone out there help me?
New parts Fuel pump, EGR valve, and all what the dealership did. |

I replaced the whole EGR Thing the metal object (that mounts on your engine) that came with it and the plastic circle thing that goes on your stock airbox. When i went to go and jump it it would not start it would turn over just not start. So i looked at the fuel rail and took that cap off and to de-pressured it but im not geting any fuel to come out and i dont think i have any air pressure in it either. theres no fuel pressure i belive am i right? or now what do i do??

Re: Re: Not Starting Need Help!!
Is there any way of adding some fuel pressure or is it just a bad fuel pump then...

It says in the haynes manual that on the 96 and up models that you dont need to replace the fuel filter it is a pice that is attached to the fuel pump and when i replace the fuel pump it looked like i replaced that too.
When the car does start you can tell because when you do put it in the acc mode you can hear the pump working and i also the fuel gague thats is in the instrument cluster works. And when it doesnt start that gague doesnt work at all. And i dont have any pressure. Um about the jump i tryed it about a day or too ago (and it didnt start)But since i replaced the relays, i might try it tommaro to see if it will take the jump. It did start today it ran for about 10 sec just idleing then it die. |

Re: Not Starting Need Help!!
I've been following this thread and this does not sound like a fuel delivery issue to me.
Why the focus on the fuel system? |

Re: Not Starting Need Help!!
Fuel delivery is one thing, fuel pump control, is another.
The lack of fluid in the gas line appears to be an electrical issue. As an electrical issue, the fuel pump control, kills the entire fuel system. If it were clogs, I would think that having all 4 injectors clogged simultaneously would be a low odds unlikey bet. If there was 2 or 3 cylinders firing I would reason a fuel delivery issue in the rail. Since all don't work the fault is likely in control of the fuel pump activation. Mr/Mrs Tubbs89, I figure that you have a elevated level of frustration with this problem. It sounds to me that you have established that fluid will conduct from the tank to the fuel rail. Is this true? What is at issue is why the pump won't come on when you want it needs to come on. Is that true? I read that it comes on sometimes but then stops. The fuel guage also dies. Is that correct? |
