hp from built head

just wondering if anyone has dyno tested their head work? i was thinking of building one myself and was just wondering how much power i could get from it? please include specific work done: 3 angle valve job, springs, oversized valves, etc.

well doing just head work wont really get you that much in the way of gains... the way head work will do that is if.. you have the upper and lower intakes port matched having a CAI and larger TB to better suport a 3 way valve job and so on.. so as for power increase it wont be much but throttle response should be helped alot..

But if your car has alot of mileage obviously your gains will be more...

PS I own a Grand AM 3100 but i almost bought a z24

yeah, i got an intake, throttle body and exhaust already (stock header) but i was wanting to get a 3 angle valve job, 1mm oversized valves, p&p head, new springs, lifters, guides, locks, in other words a built head. so i was just wondering what kind of increase i could expect?

also, i was planning on adding a stage 1 cam and high compression pistons and rods (eventually), but i heard that aggressive cams and high comp pistons don't mix very well, anyone know if this is true?

well also being our cars are computer controlled so i could only guess that the computer would compensate.. but as for the combo.. my dad is running a bored out 350 to 355 ci.. with a B&M supercharger and dual 450 holly carbs.. and puts out about 620 whp
But if your adding a cam your increases from head would be alot more.. its too hard to say.. only way is go get your car dyno'd and then do a before and after but guessing is no way to tell because everyone will say something different..
But he put in the most aggressive cam he could find.. but hes running a low compression.. so i couldnt tell ya..

gee, thanks man.


just kidding, that is an interesting fact. maybe aggressive cam/low compression is the way to go. i heard they don't mix well because the high compression cancels out because of the overlap the cam gives. it makes sense, i guess. but then again, a lot of things make sense at first when it comes to engine performance
