1996 plm grang voyager 2.4 w/ ac
belt flew off earlier today, so i bought new one. noticed the idle pully was a little offset (to the left) i didnt think much of it until i routed the belt from the bottom, came up top to put the belt on the altenator and when Iloosened the bolt the altenantor fell. the bannana shped hole that the bolt sits in had a hole in the bottom that allowed it to fall. looks like where the idle pully was mounted had already broken so the altenantor was the only thing holding it on. so my question is. can i replace that mounting area? is it a pain? it was dark and rainning (no garage/in apts) but it looked like two bolts were holding the bracket. i want to tackle and fix this asap. Re: Altenantor/ Idle pully bracket broke!!??!!?!
unfortunatley its not easy it intails taking the timing cover off removint the timing belt and right (back) cam pulley off remove the 3 bolts there and the one in the back thats attached to the metal bracket. the book time on it is from 5 to 6hours at a shop did one today if your not mechanically inclined i wouldnt tackle it because you have to line up all three timing marks and thats can be a pain. but get a good manual and some time you should be able to do it. good luck your friendly dodge dealership mechanic. p.s if you have trouble let me know and ill walk you threw it!
