Thumbs down coolant light

i lose my coolant about every 1,000 miles.. I don't lose any while car is sitting.. I have no symptoms of a head gasket issue.. However, I do have oily residue underneath the water pump.. The car does not overheat either.. I definitely lose the coolant over time, so I've ruled out a bad sensor... This is on a 98' chevy cavalier 2.2

Re: coolant light

You pump has a small hole in it that allows coolant to come out in case the seal goes. Sometimes when pumps go the bearings go giving you something audible to go buy, sometimes not. It mostly leaks out while yer drivin. Replacing the pump seems obvious. Also, check your hoses. If they seem weak, replace them also.
