Question Rattle in the catalytic converter

ive got a piece that is aparently loose in my catalytic converter acording to my mechanic and i guess its a real pain in the ass to fix. anyone know an easy way to fix this or replace it without spending hundred of dollars? my funds are low, id love to try and fix it myself but i tihnk this one is way over my head.
Any help would be greatly apreciated.

I've had several cars with rattles in the cat. They all ended up being a loose heat shield on the top or bottom of the out side. It not really needed and can usually be removed with a pair of pliers. reach under and try to lift any of the four corners of each shield. If just one corner is loose, I'd remove it. May not be your problem but worth a look before spending 500.

Re: Rattle in the catalytic converter

I paid $90 for a HIGH FLOW catalytic Converter from Summit and installed it myself. not too difficult.

Re: Rattle in the catalytic converter

You might need ot cut it off if it was welded on, but for the most part there should be some exhaust clamsp holding it on. You might want to cut it anyways it iwll make the jopb alot easier then trying to loosen it and pull it off.
