Super Sport vs Clone

I see a lot of Novas that are listed as clones but have the SS emblem. What is the difference? Does it mean the car is not really a SS and they just put an SS emblem on it? DOes a real SUper SPort have a certain size engine or certain options? Thanks for the help.

Re: Super Sport vs Clone

It depends on the year. In the early years SS was basically a trim package. Bucket seats, floor shifter, fancier interior. You could have an early 60's SS Chevrolet with a six cylinder if you didn't order the V-8. Later on the V-8 engine was part of the package but sometimes it didn't include the top HP engine. (unless you ordered it) If you want all the details for the various years and models get one of the many SS books available.

As far as clones there's all kinds. Some really suck (emblems only, haha some clone) and some are done up very close to the real thing. None are as valuable as the real thing and the books will tell you what to look for to know what you have in front of you. Oh yeah, Welcome aboard!
