Can I replace the driver's seat?

I have had my 2005 GP for three weeks and I love the car, but the driver's seat is not comfort for my two hour daily commute.

I have the basic model with manual seats, can I replace the seat with a power seat? Has anyone had any experience with this.

I have tried every cushion known to man, but I still almost crippled when I get out of the seat. Any suggestions?

THANKS!!

I don't know if this will help and I'm sure it's not exactly what you're looking for but here's what I did.

First of all our 2005 is a GTP with dual everything seats so I can say from experience that if you can change the seat go for it, you'll be glad you did.

If it turns out that you can't here's what helped for me (actually for my wife). We had a 2002 GTP and I also have a 2001 GTP. My wife always complained that the passenger side was uncomfortable (driver's side on both cars are power with lumbar support). I picked up a heated car seat massager and she said that she never felt better at the end of a long drive.

Like I said, I know it's not the advise you were looking for but if you can't change the seat try it.

If you can't get an answer here the dealer should know if it's possible.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I going to test out a GPT with power seats this weekend and if they feel comfortable speak with the dealer.

The GTP was great. The lumbar support is out of this world. BUT, it will cost around $3,000 to replace the seat (dealers quote).

Dealers typilcally use a car as a demo for up to 6000 miles and then sell it. It seems to me that if your GP has under 6000 maybe you could strike a deal with the dealer to take it in trade for an upgrade to the GTP. He could still sell it as a demo as long as nobody runs a Carfax on it.

If what he offers for your car is is more than $3000 less than what you owe then it's probably still worth it when you consider all the extras you get with the GTP.

If you're going to go that route the first thing I would do is go to the Kelly Blue Book site (kbb.com) and find out the trade in value of your car. Just so you know what to expect from the dealer.

i was able to get a complete leather set (front pair/driver power +rear seats) on eBay ($250+$100 extra for completerear bench/seat) from a wrecked gtp mine were cloth no-power.

*note* be sure to take the seatbelt latches off of your origional seats if your new ones came from a wreck...otherwise they will not work (must be a cable lock of some sort)

also, be sure NOT to connect both avaliable plugs from underneath the passenger seat...otherwise you will get an airbag warning...just plug the smaller one up (prob just a gt1 thing) i think it was a yellow connector.

hope this helps...coulda been an hour job, but tracking down those two issues made for a 4 hour ordeal
