Yesterday while I was driving around I saw an older BMW 735i. On the other side of the trunk lid was an M// emblem. Is this real? Anyone shed any light on this?

I doubt it. Sounds like a rice ploy.

If BMW doesn't make one, someone else will. Like Schnitzer, Hartge or one of the other German tuners. The new E65 7 Series will have a great engine to work with.

The alpina B12 6.0l can be considered as the fastest 7 in the world i think.... with the V12 6.0l...

Imagine how much an M7 would cost..... if the top of the line 750iL is almost $100,000 US.....

I was thinking about that too. It would have its work cut out for it to compare with the S600, but hell, they're BMW, they can take them. In my book, BMW seems to be able to put out the product that I would prefer in a head-to-head every time, in my ever-so-subjective opinion, except for all-out comfort (my dad and I sat in a bunch of Bimmers and Benzes at the NY Auto Show, and we agreed just about across the board in every size class that we were able to sit in both for comparison's sake that the comparable Benz was more comfy). 'Course the thing is for me that I'd take an edge in performance over comfort anyday.

The Original 7-Series never made it to the M division. Instead, BMW put a turbocharged version of the 3.5 liter engine the 7. It was called the 745i, and was only available with the 3 speed auto (it was the only tranny in the parts bin that could take the torque). The hp was close to that of the M6. Some people call it the M7 that never was, but it still has the stock suspension, and the auto trann didn't really make it that fast. Now if it had an M5 tranny, then it could be pretty fast, almost as fast as an e28 M5.

Protection...don't think so

Seeing as how the BMW M5 adds roughly 20 grand to the price of a 540i, I would bet on about 25 grand additional to the new 745i sport model for the M designation if this ever happened. They wouldn't do an M car with a V12 in it because it would be more trouble than benefit IMHO. Look how Mercedes did their AMG S55. Anyway I would say probably in the neighborhood of 100K for an M7 with a V8 engine in probably 2004. Anyone buying an Mercedes S600 is a fool plain and simple. They depreciate terribly. At the local dealer here there is a 1999 600 on the lot with 17k miles for 88K dollars and the original buying price was 133K! Mercedes suck anyways... Ultimatedriver7 |
