Differential fluid change question...
I changed the rear differential fluid in my 96 zj jgcl I6...and everything went smoothly. however...this morning after driving about 20 miles...I noticed that there was some fluid around the plug (and the plug is seated properly.) my guess is that itll be fine, but i just want to make sure that this isnt something to worry about. I think it will form a seal after a while but just want to be sure. thanks guys

Re: Differential fluid change question...
Park the Jeep on level ground and remove the plug. If oil runs out, it's over full.
The right leves is 1/8" below the plug hole. I run mine right at the edge of the hole. The idea is to have it at the hole edge at operating temp. Just catch the extra oil and put it with your used engine oil when you dispose of it. JD |

well...the manual calls for 1.2 liters or so of fluid. I put that much in (on level ground...) but it seems like i am still getting the "leak"....would advanced auto parts or autozone sell replacement plugs? it could be that its old..

Re: Differential fluid change question...
I take it that this is a rubber plug??
One of the parts stores should have something for you - or the stealership............. actually my local dealer treats me real well for parts - can't really complain there. JD |
