94 Bonneville clicks, lights flash while attempting start
My 94 Bonneville had no problems starting. I changed the spark plug wires, I Unplugged the battery for a few, hooked it all back up and now the car clicks and interior lights flash, and beeper beeps in unison while trying to turn over. The lights on the outside also flash when I try to use key or keyless entry, I'm afraid it may have some anti-theft that I have triggered and can't get out of.
I know the lady I bought it from said it had wierd security issues and that you had to use the keyless entry or it would flash at you. I drove it that way for months, and sometimes it would flash but it never locked up on me. It clicked around for 20 seconds and then stopped clicking, flashing and beeping all together I've had the battery out before and it didn't do it. However, I didn't unhook the battery when I did my last heater core change, and I unhooked the ecu then. Once plugged in, it ran normal, but this is the first time I have unplugged the battery since then (FYI) Can anyone help me? |

sounds like it needs a new battery, my moms 97 did something similar and although the battery seemed ok it had actually started leaking acid out around the posts, put in a new battery...problem solved

Re: 94 Bonneville clicks, lights flash while attempting start
What is the behavior of the Security light on the dash? Solid, flashing, off? Check the RPO sticker for the UA6 option. this will tell you if you have a factory "Forced Entry" antitheft system. The RPO sticker is located on the spare tire cover under the trunk carpet.
It sounds like an aftermarket antitheft device to me. Have you poked your head underneath the steering column yet? Look for additional wiring and a valet switch of some sort. |
