BMW 316i

I just bought a BMW 316i 1992.
There seems to be an anti teft system in the car becouse a sticker at the side window says so.
On each side of the windsheeld there is an ultrasone sensor (motion detect)
I opened the trim under the steering wheel and found a "black box". It has to be the anti teft system becouse the wiring of the motion detect sensors go to that box. There is hardly any identification on the box.
It gives only the tekst: "Super mach 28"
Opening the box shows no RF-unit which would mean that the anti teft system is remote controled by a remote control unit.
Is it possible that the unit works on the car key? (at the steering lock or door?
Questions:
Has any body any idear how it works and what to do to make it work?
Does anybody recognise the trademark "super mach 28"?
Has anybody a manual on this system?
